A frog in an abandoned well

by Warehouse Management Team Assistant Jasmine

There lived a frog in an abandoned well. One day, the frog met a big turtle crawling from the sea by the well.

The frog boasted to the turtle: “Look, how happy I am living here! Sometimes when I am happy, I jump around the well fence for a while; when I am tired, I go back to the well and sleep by the brick hole. Or I expose my head and mouth outside and quietly soak my whole body in the water; or I walk in the soft mud, which is also very comfortable. Look at those small shrimps and tadpoles, none of them can compare to me. Moreover, I am the owner of this well and I am very free in this well. Why don’t you come to the well often to enjoy it!”

The turtle wanted to go in and look after hearing what the frog said. However, before its front feet were completely in, the railing tripped its hind feet. It quickly stepped back two steps and told the frog about the situation in the sea:

“Have you seen the sea? The sea is vast, not just a thousand miles; the sea is deep, not just a thousand feet. In ancient times, there were floods every ten or nine years, but the sea water did not rise much; later, there were floods every eight or seven years, but the sea water did not seem to be much shallower. It can be seen that the sea is not affected by droughts or floods. Living in such a sea is a blessing!”

The frog realized that there is such a big world outside the well. He stood there blankly, unable to say a word…………..

The story should have ended here, but I have some different opinions.
People are laughing at the frog’s shallowness and ignorance,
but, ignoring the following facts:
Even if the sea has an incomparable space,
However, in fact, how can a frog in a freshwater well survive in salt water?
We need a place to live, not too big, nor too luxurious,
Please remember a proverb,
The world is so big, there is always a place for me to live and a place where my heart is at peace, even if it is a foreign land, it is also my hometown.

Please cherish where you are and what you have, and don’t blindly envy what others have.
